FAQs
Q. What is a Hotspot?
A location where a person with a laptop computer can
connect to the Internet with a WiFi-connected computer
of PDA (hand-held device) to surf the Internet or read
and send email. You don't need any wires to connect.
Q. How can a Hotspot location make money for the
owner?
People who connect pay a fee based upon the length of
time connected and that revenue is shared between the
Hotspot location and the Hotspot provider.
Q. How complicated is it to set up?
New Vista will set up all the equipment that's
necessary for the Hotspot. The equipment itself is small
and simple and won't require much space. The Hotspot is
an appliance and the location owner can verify if it's
on by simply looking at two indicator lights. If they
are on, it's working. You need no computer knowledge to
be a Hotspot location.
Q. How hard is it for customers to connect and use
the Hotspot?
It's simple if the customer has a computer or PDA
with a WiFi interface. The customer turns on the
computer or PDA, establishes communication with the
wireless appliance, and pays for access either with his
credit card or a serialized coupon giving a certain
amount of time. The Hotspot location owner can use this
as a marketing tool to increase traffic to his location.
Q. Who are the parties involved in the Hotspot
operation?
There are four parties involved:
- Hotspot location owner
- Hotspot operator
- Back-office administration for accounts and
access verification
- Internet high-speed provider (either DSL or
cable modem)
Q. What are the benefits of signing up with New
Vista to offer Hotspots?
Hotspot hardware is extremely secure and supports a
large number of simultaneous users (up to 100 at a
time).
Operation is simple. The Hotspot operator will not
have to tutor customers in connecting because everything
is explained on the Website or is self-evident. People
who don't know what WiFi or a Hotspot is will have no
need for this service.
Communication with New Vista Hotspots is seamless and
unlike most other Hotspot operators, the customer will
be able to read and send email from the email software
program without making any changes to their system.
Also, the email messages they send and receive will look
the same as if they were at their home or office. This
is particularly important for customers who wish to
maintain their corporate identity while traveling.
